Why we built this
Most subscription apps are built beside Shopify. We built ours on top of it.
Super Subscription is made by Proscube, a small, independent team building commerce software for Shopify merchants.
What we kept running into
A lot of subscription tooling predates Shopify's own subscription APIs. It keeps its own card vault, charges through its own gateway integration, and stores subscriptions in its own database. That works — until you want to leave, and discover your customers' agreements and payment details don't come with you.
The decisions we made
Build on Shopify's own billing. Payment methods stay vaulted with Shopify. We never see a card, so no PCI scope lands on you and there is no second vault to trust.
Contracts belong to the merchant. Subscriptions are Shopify objects in your store. If you leave, they're still there. We'd rather compete on being worth staying with.
Make cancellation easy. Hidden cancel buttons produce chargebacks, support load and bad reviews. We put skip and pause in front of cancel because most people clicking cancel want a break — not because we're trying to trap anyone.
Say what's shipped. Our features page marks what's coming soon. A product page that promises what the product doesn't do becomes a support ticket, then a refund, then a review.
How we handle your data
Stored in the European Union on encrypted storage, retention enforced by a scheduled job rather than an intention, personal data redacted before it reaches a log, and every read of a subscriber's details recorded in an append-only audit log. The detail is here.
